GDPI mean “Group discussion personal interaction”. Group Exercise or GE is comparable to a gaggle discussion. 

However, in a GE, the PGDHM students aren’t provided with a topic to debate. They are given a case to debate and are available with solutions. The issue is predicated on Marketing, Human resources, Finance, and Operations. The candidates are grouped into batches of 8-10, and each batch is given 20 minutes to debate and present the answer.

In Personal Interaction, this round could be face-to-face interaction with a panel comprising academics, teachers, and industry experts. Also, in Writing Ability Test or WAT, candidates are given a subject to write down a brief passage of 100-200 words. 

Preparation tips for Group Discussion:

The best part to practice for GE is reading about Marketing, Human resources, Finance, and Operations fields. Read reports and case studies to grasp how to make plans and solutions. While participating in the Group Discussion, the candidates must keep subsequent in mind:

  • Listen to each participant’s point of view
  • Make your point when it’s your turn. Don’t interrupt others once they are speaking
  • Speak softly yet firmly. Don’t shout or show aggression
  • Remember the time is a smaller amount, so make to the purpose argument
  • Read newspapers regularly, so you do not let down information on current affairs. You want to have complete knowledge of political, economic, social, and Science & Tech problems in recent times.
  • Enter the discussion at the appropriate point, i.e. when others are taking a tiny low pause or have completed their case, which you’ll be able to counter or elaborate. It’s unnecessary to attain a consensus during a GD, and students can have different opinions but what’s essential is concluding the discussion with convincing points.
  • Don’t try and prove others wrong in a GD. Just committing it to memory isn’t a debate but a gaggle discussion.

 While participating in an exceedingly GD, concentrate on the following:

  • Content
  • Team approach
  • Leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Analytical & logical reasoning
  • Ensure participation by putting up relevant points. Build your arguments with facts, figures, and situations. Keep a logical approach throughout the GD. It becomes easy to make on others’ arguments and conclude.

Preparation tips for Personal Interview (PI):

It’s okay to mention ‘I don’t know’ in an interview rather than answering a matter with no knowledge about the subject. Be humble and state that you just haven’t much understanding of the subject.

Here’s the classic opening question in a PI ‘Tell me something about yourself. Answer to the current question can make or break the interview. In this, one should talk very briefly about family, education, and career goals. Don’t talk plenty about the past, and briefly confer with past teaching, life journey, and plans.

Another common question is, ‘Why does one want to try in this field?’ Answer such questions keeping in mind the holistic development you’ll get during and acquire skills always long success in personal and domestic space. Remember, one lands employment in a corporate organisation with opportunities for rapid career growth and high monetary returns. But at the same time, management as a career is additionally a challenging profession.

Also, one more common interview question is ‘Where does one see yourself five years from now?’ While answering this, target skills development and increased responsibility while highlighting your goals as achievements. But don’t say I need to become top of the others or something similar.

Preparation tips for Written Ability Test:

WAT topics are as abstract as ‘Describe the colour blue and pink’ to something more focused on current trends. Read various forms of books and articles, newspapers, latest trends, and articles on India’s growth stories daily. This essay writing round tests the candidate’s registered ability, knowledge of the subject, understanding of the subject, and clarity of thoughts. So watch out for what you write.
