Today the entire humanity faces an existential crisis due to coronavirus pandemic that shook the world with an apocalyptic reality. Every country faces the common enemy as the deadly virus ruthlessly affecting all humankind irrespective of nationality, race or religious faith.

The outbreak has disrupted the economy; millions of jobs are lost, educational institutions are shut, health sector is overburdened, aviation, tourism and hospitality industry are badly hit, manufacturing and production units shut down and infrastructure is affected as most nations go into complete lockdown.  The contractual workers are at risk of losing their employments with some already having lost their regular income. The pandemic has hit the global supply chain as well which has resulted in shutting down malls and retail stores due to lockdown.  

The most vulnerable and marginalized population such as women and children, homeless destitute, and abandoned population due to old age, physical and mental disabilities and the displaced are at the highest risk of suffering due to devastating losses from the COVID-19. As a result, a vast growing young population will be further marginalized, potentially giving raise to social conflict, instabilities and crime

But the entire human race is struggling to keep spirits up during this most challenging and devastating time. In the midst of the fear and uncertainties during this deadly pandemic, there are reasons for hope, and even optimism.

The public health agencies and experts in all countries are working on the outbreak to ensure the availability of the best care to those affected and discoveries on vaccine and cure.

The following 10 Point comprehensive public health strategies could prove to be more effective than others in containing the pandemic:

1. Aggressive public health campaigns intended to minimize infections

2. Rapid testing and isolation of suspected cases

3. Meticulous tracing of contacts

4. Investment in setting up fast-track testing using advanced diagnostics and test kits and equipment

 5. Access to basic, affordable public health care and treatment

6. Setting up “flu centres” to isolate and treat suspected cases,

7. Improved training of health care workers in handling COVID-19 cases

8. Community mobilization for people’s stay at home, practicing hand wash with soap, closure of worship services and suspension of mass assemblies.

 9. Special support and economic programmes for most vulnerable and marginalized population

 10. Provide clear, reassuring messaging from leaders

At this juncture the word “Coronavirus” cannot be taken carelessly, we could potentially arrest the burgeoning suffering and losses only with concerted actions.

  3. It is quite true. In addition to this some measures to be adopted to help the unorganized labour force who were working at various construction and other places in big cities. They have left on foot to their respective villages. No job, no money, no food and after locked down how again they will come to their work?
    The Local Govt. should have form ‘Community Task Force’ in their areas to findout the cites where the working are working and convience them to stay where they living providing them food money and wages so that the flow of moving could be controlled.
    Any way, We have NGO name ‘ Tathagat Foundation’ registrard under the Societh Registration Act, 1860 at Nagpur started distrubuting the daily needs to the poor people in various localities in the Nagpur.
